Cachepot
I made this item for a gift swap, using the leftovers from my Rosedale cardigan. I started with a garter stitch rectangle about 33-40% wider than the height of the pot and about 33% longer than the pot's circumference. I also added five (or more?) short rows to account for the taper of the pot. I joined the two ends with a three needle join, then bound off. (I thought this might reduce the seam bulk a bit v. a three needle bind off.) I then picked up stitches for three out of every four rows, and decreased at five points every round until there were five stitches remaining. At the top edge, I picked up one stitch for each two rows with Trendsetter Eyelash, and then knit about five rows, then bound off. I felted it with a pair of old jeans, and discovered that the item was taller than I'd intended at the point where the circumference was correct. So I turned down the "cuff" at the top, and I actually like it better than my original plan. Materials used: less than 2 skeins of Noro Kureyon (1.5-1.75) and just a bit of the Eyelash. I plan to send it off with bulbs for forcing. (Note: this didn't happen due to inefficiency on my part.)
