I wore these for a good part of every single day this past winter. They didn't retain this ultimate fuzziness, but they are outstanding slippers anyway.
The pattern calls for a double strand of heavy worsted, and I used a strand each of Turkish Olive and Charcoal Heather Lamb's Pride Worsted, with Charcoal only for the soles, and Turkish Olive only for the cuffs. I also did a little trick where I thread a long tail of yarn through the cuff stitchs a couple of times and pulled it just a little. This makes for a snugger slipper collar, and it can be done after the first felting if you like.
There's a reason why this pattern is so popular--quick to knit, incredibly toasty, and great-looking.
